Cooking is not so much for me. It's too multi-faceted, all the washing and chopping, the sauteing and seasoning and when you're done, it's still not time for dessert yet. That's why I prefer to bake. Perhaps, my love of baking stems from my consistent preference of anything sweet over actual food. I can't remember if I've always been like this but I know I've always had a sweet tooth and in the past few years, it's really got a grip on me.

I'm a sucker for the bundt cake (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bundt_cake). It can impress a crowd instantly. I mean, for godsakes, the pan is shaped that way, it has nothing to do with my own devices. I did not hand mold the cake into a heavenly ring and yet everytime I make one of these, ooohhh's and aaahhh's follow.

I've also experimented a bit with key lime pie. Again, this is an excellent way to impress people while actually doing very little (revelation via blogging! Dana likes to wow people and maintain her laziness. interesting). My mother swears that a graham cracker pie crust bought at the store is equally delish as a handmade crust and it's so much easier. I would have to agree. Once you got that crust, all you gotta do is pour something sweet and tasty into the center and you got yourself a delicious (and impressive) treat!

One of my favorite things to make is cookies. Cookies = happiness. Also, I don't cut corners on cookies (HA cookies are round! they don't have corners!). I find the most delicious recipes and spruce them up by adding peanut butter chips or some other fine delicacy. I enjoy making them and people enjoy eating them. Making cookies gives me the same joy that I imagine a cook gets from baking a lasagna or cooking some hunk of meat. I'm able to create something and then feed people. What is better than that?

Recently, for my birthday, I received a fancy shmancy cookie press and a cake pan shaped like a pumpkin. Either my creations really are delicious are people are humoring me. Either way, I'm having fun and finding my domestic groove.

Also, I really like candy. I don't make that though, I just eat a lot of it.
