oh, brother.

Though we have a receptionist, the main phone line rings on every phone in my office. Just now it rang and i glanced at my phone to see if i recognized the number. Sure enough, i did - it was my brother calling so i decided to bypass the receptionist and pick it up.

me: hello brudder!
Brother: Hello?
me: hi, it's me.
Brother: are you the receptionist?
me: seriously? no. i saw your number so i picked up.
Brother: oh, are you like the receptionist?
me: again, no. The main line rings on all of our phones and i saw it was you so i picked up.
Brother: do you think the receptionist will be upset?
me: no. i don't think so.
Brother: how did you know it was me?
me: we have called ID.
Brother: on the main line?
me: um, yes? on all the lines.
Brother: That's fancy!
me: actually, no, no it's not fancy at all.

Gosh, people are smart in different ways, huh?
