Paul: you quit blogging
I did not quit blogging. I've just been werkin.
But let me bring you up to speed on the really important things that have been happening, loyal blog friends.
Last week, I bought 1 lb. of turkey at the deli counter to make sandwiches for the week. When i got home and unwrapped the package, i noticed that the turkey had a fluorescent shimmer to it. That would have been fine and even pretty had I wanted my turkey to be an edible hologram. Not wanting to glow in the dark, i decided against eating it. This was not my first bad experience with deli meat.
After taking a break to read The Glass Castle (which i recommend), I finally finished Bel Canto. And though i wouldn't recommend it, everyone i respect would in fact, absolutely recommend it. Moral of the story? Ignore me. Deciding that I clearly have bad taste in books and might as well accept it and indulge, i purchased Twilight. Stay tuned.
While running in Brooklyn last weekend, i spotted a 7-week old Golden Retriever puppy. THE EARTH STOOD STILL as we locked eyes. I swear to you, i heard violin music playing in the background as I ran, in slow motion, toward this gorgeous creature. After speaking with the owner for a few minutes and saying crazy things to her, like "your life will be forever changed," i ran home, convincing myself that nothing else mattered as long as i got my hands on a golden retriever of my very own. I did some research on breeders and found out that i can totally afford to make the actual purchase of a puppy. If only the cost ended there! But alas, there are naysayers all around me - people who ask silly questions like when will i walk this said dog? and how will i cover other costs associated with having a dog? and don't puppies chew everything up and pee all over the floor? And there's that part about not actually being allowed to have a dog in our apartment. Hurdles, people, these are all hurdles that i will overcome. PUPPY STEPS, starting with a clause in our 2009-2010 lease that gives me permission to have a furry friend. Watch out world, here I come with my puppy.
Let's see, what else.
Oh, i made spaghetti squash. Whoever said that this is a spaghetti substitute does not have taste buds. Aside from looking kind of cool, spaghetti squash has no redeeming qualities. Here is my advice: eat real spaghetti with a side of not-spaghetti squash.
Also, did i tell you Kate and Murphy got a new brother? They shore did! He's a real cutie and my parents and libby girl got to meet him last night. He's a defunct show dog but i'm sure he's good at other things. Like lookin real cute. here's a pic from their triple date:

I think that third dog in the back is so not real and was photoshopped in. That or she is an apparition of a real dog. The green aura she is giving off is very other-worldly.
