Last night,

i went to pick up our beautiful "proof books" and cds from our wedding photographer in the e. village. Basically, we now have two very fat spiral books filled with the 2000 plus photos from our wedding. you all look seriously gorgeous. it's so great to have the photos in our possession --
to flip through the book whenever i get the urge - there are so many special, awesome photos and i can't wait to give them out, frame them and just have them, forever.

next, i stopped into The Broadway Panhandler, which is the most fantastic kitchen gadget store, ever. I could play in there for hours and buy so many little things i would never use. Refusing to walk out empty-handed, I settled on a cookie cutter in the shape of a dove. i figure dove shaped (christmas) cookies are somewhat religiously neutral - right? Jews love the dove (peace, shalom, etc.) and so do people who celebrate xmas, right? did i make that up? Also, as a side note, i love doves - how they look and what they symbolize. in the game of 'if ever i got a tattoo, what would it be,' i choose the outline of picasso's dove. But i have no plans to get a tattoo, mainly because next week, i would probably opt for the outline of a coffee mug and regret the bird altogether. Anyways.

It's so rare that i'm go gallivanting through the east village anymore and i found it so refreshing - it reminded me of how i always thought new york city should be. Maybe it's because the e. village is where i got my first true taste of NYC when i was interning at the public theater after my freshman year of college. everything was so exciting, so accessible, so new york. i guess i lost some of that taste when i moved here and realized that i couldn't afford an apartment anywhere near there and that i had to go to work every day instead of bouncing around without worry, the way i had when i knew that in the Fall, i'd return to my little collegiate bubble.

It didn't hurt that every store i went into was playing christmas music, mainly "winter wonderland." i love christmas music. i love "winter wonderland." and i always have. When i got home, i put on my newly downloaded version of tony bennett's version of the song and rocked out. ok, i ironed while i listened but it was still great.

oh, also, Frank, our landlord, put a deadbolt on our apartment door. yay, now it will me more difficult to break in or, less easy (sorry, mom). happy holidays to you too, Frank!
