Summertime

Salad was meant for lettuce and his friends not for fruit and his buddies. I love fruit but I've never liked fruit salad. I don't like all my fruit touching. It creeps me out. Strawberries and pineapple can mingle but that's about it. Maybe put some raspberries in there. When people throw grapes into the fruit salad, well, there's no excuse.

Do you know I hate grapes? I'm not even really sure what they taste like but the thought of one bursting in my mouth is just enough to put me over the edge. When I try to psychoanalyze my fear of grapes (naturally), all I can trace it to is the image of my brother as a kid, sitting on a chair in our family room, popping green grapes into his mouth. I remember that he accidentally missed his mouth, dropping the grape into the crease of the chair cushion and I don't recall him finding it. I'm sure my mom discovered it shortly after but the insanity that was that lost grape clearly left it's mark on me. I avoided that chair for quite some time and still find grapes offensive.

I don't like blueberries or cherry tomatoes for the same reason but I'm warming up to peas because they're harder to avoid and why make life more difficult than it has to be?
