so

my assignment was to find a very affordable place to stay for me and M. on monhegan island, maine. I didn't have much luck considering i'm thinking $50 would be the only affordable price.

monhegan island is a wondrous little island, an artist's colony, with no paved roads, very few stores, a couple of restaurants, limited phone and internet access and hardly any distractions from the modern world. It's all beauty: tall cliffs and ocean views and the most stars i've ever seen in one night. It's quiet and peaceful and simple - all the things I'm striving to be in my head and in my life right now.

sometimes when i get really overwhelmed or anxious, I like to picture the island, or a certain point on the island and then I remember to focus on getting back to the basics and living without commotion and speed.
