Yesterday was an exciting day.

My brother and my seester (in-law) bought their first house! They grow up so quickly. It's quite exciting and I can't wait to visit their new digs in South Carolina.

But in other, more self-absorbed news, WE GOT AN OVEN.

Ok, actually, our oven was installed - it had been sitting on the kitchen floor since it was delivered a few weeks ago. But no complaining, thanks to our dear landlord, we have a brand new oven THAT WORKS. It heats up and cooks/bakes stuff.

I know that because M. came home with cookie dough last night. Either he was craving cookies or he was testing me. A few days ago, as the large appliance sat in our kitchen, looking like it wouldn't fit into the wall and with no word from the landlord that he had plans to come install it, I had politely asked (forbidden) M. to re-sign the lease until I had cookies baking in an oven. So, eager to ensure his Brooklyn livelihood, the boy came home with break and bake cookies (from the bodega. See, they have everything). In the oven they went and out came the lease, pen in hand.

Now, we have cookies and the apartment for another year. Tasty.

The one downside: I no longer have an excuse for not cooking and eating pb & j every night. Crap.
